A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to test the last Braun beard trimmer BT5090. I will also tell you about the products I use for my beard and a few others things.
At first glance, the machine has really a cool and stylish look, but let’s see what my opinion is after testing it.
Let’s start with a few details:
1- Super design and a very good grip
2- You have the machine, an additional hoof trimmer for long beards (10-20 mm), along with the precision of the hoof trimmer (1-10 mm), a tote, the charger, a small oil tube for the device and a cleaning brush.
3- The machine has a styling function, which makes it possible to draw the contours (top!)
4- It can be used with or without wire (50 minutes of autonomy)
5- Fully washable under water.
Basically, this machine has nothing complicated and the fact that it can be easily gripped, it is very easy to use. On the other hand, to carve oneself beard is not so easy, therefore here are some tips from me.
To cut one’s beard:
1- You have to know your beard, ie its density according to the areas of the face, the sparse sides, etc. Your goal is to be as efficient as a barber and for that, you will need several steps of shaving – yes, Rome did not happen in only one day!
2 – When I pretend that you should be like a barber, I mean you should analyse your beard, your face, your habits of shaving, which length you want and which style you wish for your beard.
3 – Base yourself on the least loaded parts of your beard to equalize the whole.
4- Use a fine comb and start cutting with the trimmer, the least loaded parts first (in my case, the neck) and keep the hoof trimmer on the machine to avoid bad surprises. Believe me, the first time seems very difficult to do, but you quickly manage to use it correctly.
5- Stop cutting at the level of the jaw, but you need to know first the style you want! In my case, I stop at this level.
6- The moustache mustn’t be neglected. Cut the hair that fall on the upper lip and also don’t forget the part below the nostrils to give a fresh and neat look to your beard.
7- Let’s take care of the cheeks now. It is the essential part of your cut, so stop breathing and concentrate. To delimit the zone of passage, place a comb that goes from the top of your ear to the commissure of your mouth (it is like drawing an imaginary line). Some people draw it directly on the skin with a black pencil. In a few words, it is up to you to find and use the right technique that suits you best.
Shave everything from above using the styling comb that the machine offers or a razor.
8- Don’t forget to finish by applying a nourishing serum to hydrate your hair and your skin, it will also make your beard softer and less prickly.
It is clear that to be stylish, not only the beard is important, but also the hair, and even the hands, here are the products that I use these times:

Il y a quelques semaines j’ai eu l’opportunité de tester la dernière machine à barbe de chez Braun, la « Braun beard trimmer BT5090 ». Du coup, à part vous en parler, je vais aussi vous parler des produits que j’utilise pour ma barbe et quelques autres petites choses.
Déjà, la machine a un look cool et stylé, voyons voir mon avis après l’avoir testée.
Commençons par quelques détails:
1- Super design et très bonne prise en main
2- Vous avez la machine, un sabot supplémentaire pour barbes longues (10-20 mm) en plus du sabot de précision (1-10 mm), une fourre, le chargeur, un petit tube d’huile pour l’appareil et une brosse de nettoyage.
3- La machine à une fonction styling, qui permet de redessiner les contours (top!)
4- On peut l’utiliser avec ou sans fil (50 minutes d’autonomie)
5- Entièrement lavable sous l’eau.
En gros, cette machine n’a rien de compliqué et du fait que la prise en main soit top, elle est très facile d’usage.
Par contre, se tailler la barbe soit même n’est pas une chose facile donc voici quelques conseils de ma part.
Tailler sa barbe soit-même:
1- Tu dois connaitre ta barbe, c’est à dire sa densité selon les zones du visage, les côtés clairsemés, etc. Ton but est d’être aussi efficace qu’un barbier et pour cela il te faudra plusieurs taillages, et oui, Rome ne s’est pas faite en un jour!
2- Te prendre pour un barbier, je m’explique, analyse ta barbe, ton visage, tes habitudes de rasage, quelle longueur tu souhaites et quel est le style que tu souhaites donner à ta barbe.
3- Base-toi sur les parties de ta barbe les moins chargées pour égaliser l’ensemble.
4- Utilise un peigne fin et commence à couper avec la tondeuse (à ras le peigne!) la partie la moins chargée (dans mon cas, le cou) et garde le sabot sur la machine pour éviter des mauvaises surprises. Je vous rassure la première fois c’est carrément difficile mais on prend vite la main.
5- Stopper la coupe au niveau de la mâchoire, mais tu dois connaitre le style que tu recherches! Dans mon cas je m’arrête à ce niveau.
6- La moustache, à ne pas négliger. Tailler les poils qui retombent sur la lèvre supérieure et aussi ne pas oublier la partie en dessous des narines pour donner un look frais et soigné à votre barbe.
7- On passe aux joues, la partie essentielle de ta coupe, donc on arrête de respirer et on se concentre.
Pour délimiter ta zone de passage place un peigne qui parte du haut de ton oreille jusqu’à la commissure de ta bouche (c’est comme placer une ligne imaginaire) d’autres la dessinent carrément sur la peau avec un crayon noir, bref à toi de voir et de trouver la technique qui te convient le mieux.
Rase tout ce qui se trouve au-dessus à l’aide du peigne styling que la machine propose ou alors un rasoir.
8- Pense à finir en appliquant un sérum nourrissant pour hydrater ton poil et ta peau, cela rendra aussi ta barbe plus douce et moins piquante.
C’est clair que pour être stylé il n’y a pas que la barbe il y a aussi les cheveux, voire même les mains, voici les produits que j’utilise ces temps-ci:
